Family Feud: Celebrity Divorce Battle Continues to Get Worse

Divorces can go one of two ways, they are either simple or not extremely painful, or there is a contested divorce and the spouses are unable to come to an agreement. This is the sad story for the Real Housewife of Beverly Hills, Adrienne Maloof and her ex, Paul Nassif. While the world often saw their little arguments on their television show, their disputes are deeper than what was shown on TV. Nassif decided to file for a divorce, and it was no simple instance, according to reports there were threats of violence and there is a possibility that the children were around to hear their disputes.

A family specialist claims that this behavior is common with celebrity couples, who get so caught up in the divorce that many times the effect the divorce will have on the children is left unconsidered, and then they end up witnessing terrible events like this celebrity couple. Maloof shares that in July her husband filed for a legal separation to give them time to work on their marriage and figure things out, and she was hoping that it was the step they needed to work on their marriage. That was until Nasiff officially filed for a divorce just a month later.

They were determined to settle their divorce with mediation, though unable to come to an agreement, their divorce has now gone to court for the final results. Their greatest concern is the custody of their children; Maloof wants primary custody whereas Nassif is hoping to have shared custody of their two children. This divorce has grown to be a nasty separation, because both spouses are trying to file for custody, they are now trying to prove each other as unsuitable for caring for their children. It was reported that Nassif claims that his ex is incapable of raising their children and that she will be a toxic influence on their lives. He addressing the concern that she verbally abused Nassif in front of the children whom he claims proves her unsuitable to raise them on her own.

The exact opposite complaints come from Maloof who claims that her ex would shove and push her, and that his violent temper was not a safe environment for their children. She addresses her biggest concern is that her ex carries a gun with him at all times inside his briefcase which is never locked. Maloof claims that the children fear their father because of that. Nassif willingly handed in his gun to the local authorities, claiming that he only carried it with him at all times as a means of protecting his two children because of their wealth and future inheritance.

It is very common for two spouses to try and proves that they are more suitable to care for their children; however, what the court will be looking for is not who can afford the nicest things for the kids, but rather who will better care for the children. The wellbeing of the children in the event of the divorce is always going to be the greatest concern, and whatever the case may be for this divorcing couple, what is truly in the best interest of their two kids is what they will consider to be the most important in their divorce dispute.

Both parents are trying to prove that the children’s best interest is to stay with one parent, and it will be left at the hands of the court to determine the outcome of these children. In the event of a contested divorce similar to this celebrity couple, having strong legal representation is crucial to fight for the needs of you and your children.
