Baby Boomers Getting Divorced at a High Rate

The 21st century has brought about serious changes in
divorce and marriage rates. One study released this year shows that baby boomers
are divorcing at a higher rate and more people are opting to stay single
longer. According to researchers at Bowling Green State University, baby
boomers are getting divorced at a rate 50% greater compared to other generations.
This is after sociologists accounted for a stabilization of divorce rates
nationally. Furthermore, even more adults are single than before. Of Americans
aged 46 to 64, a third were divorced, never married or separated. This
is up from 13% in 1970, according to the sociologists conducting the survey.
These figures are expected to increase as younger generations are already
showing a trend towards getting married later in life. Statistics from
the survey also show that baby boomers that are unmarried are 5 times
as likely as their married counterparts to be living in poverty. If you
